FAQ’s Pool and Glass Fencing Treatments

The glass supplier has offered you a coating to be put on the glass in the factory.

Some glass retailers offer this service before installation. Our recommendation is to not have this done. Firstly, you should ask if there is a Warranty provided by the supplier, and if something isn’t right with the coating or the glass after a few years, who fixes it? They are questions that should be answered. Custom made panels are generally excluded in this process, and therefore you may have panels that aren’t coated being installed. You may not even be aware that they aren’t treated.
As a part of our process, we do our jobs onsite after the glass has been installed. We thoroughly clean the glass, monitor how water behaves on the glass prior to coating, removing minor sticker and tape marks that are left over from delivery. Chances are you’ll never see them, but we do. And we remove them all so the coating can penetrate and seal all the glass.
Most installers don’t clean the fence after installation. That isn’t their job. That is where we come in, to further complement their work and make the glass sparkling clean and brilliant by removing all the minor marks, fingerprints, dust, dirt and grime. Would you rather pay all this money to have your new glass installed and still not correctly cleaned and looking brand new?
We also offer a Clean and Maintenance service to all our clients. Something the glass suppliers won’t do as we take pride in the longevity of our work rather than to just clip you for a simple upsell that may never be cleaned and checked.

Is it better to Treat New Glass Fencing?

• Yes. While your New Glass Fence is New, get it done within the first few weeks of being completed.
Can you Clean my existing Glass Fence?
• Of course. We can clean your existing fence, remove any marks, existing staining and then treat it with our Nanokote Glass Coating.

How often should I clean my Glass Fence?

• Remembering the coating is not never ever clean, it is easy to clean. That’s the truth. Minerals, Salt, Chlorine will not magically disappear off the glass. The coating stops them from sticking, etching into the glass.
• In an ideal world, a good hose off would be fine after each use or few days. It all depends on the proximity to the pool. Panels that are more than 2m away wont need as much cleaning, whereas panels getting splashed on a regular basis will require a bit more of a clean to keep the minerals off the glass. In my experience, the cleaner the glass is kept, the easier it is to keep clean. once minerals are left on the glass for periods of time, then may take a bit more work to remove.
• If you experience bore water, then you will need to clean it more regularly. The contaminants in bore water will stick and etch, and as there is a large concentration, you will need to clean it more often. I even suggest doing what is possible to keep the bore water off the glass or rinsing with clean water after use to help wash the contaminants off.

How do I Clean my Nanokote Treated Glass Fence?

We suggest a bucket of warm water and detergent. It can be as simple as dishwashing detergent, or it may have some vinegar added to it. Use a microfibre cloth, soaking it in the water and washing with a similar to the action of washing a car. Hose the soap off after each panel or two. The less rags on it the better, as they can leave smears. Just let it dry naturally. You may have some soap drips left over, which is fine, or there maybe some small spots of dirt. You can wipe these off with a dry cloth and a bit of Metho is you prefer.
If you have a rainwater tank, use that to rinse the glass and hose off. It is much cleaner water and will dry off much better that tap water that can contain minerals.

Does Crystal SP offer Clean and Maintenance Service?

Yes, we offer a Cleaning Service of your new, treated or existing pool fence. We do monthly, quarterly or annual cleans for our clients. If your glass has been treated by us, we also review the performance of the coating and ensure it is still working correctly.

Can you treat Windows?

Yes. We generally only treat the exterior side of windows as that is the side that experiences the most dirt, salt, minerals and daily grime. Just ask us about it and we can also suggest which windows would best benefit from a treatment and which would achieve best value for money.
