FAQ’s Concrete, Metal & Plastic Coatings

Why Protect Concrete?

• Aesthetics is the main reason. It looks good when an asset is painted.
• Is much easier to keep clean and maintain the look of the new or old asset
• Protection against Carbonation, Spalling, Corrosion and environmental conditions that attack and deteriorate concrete
• Stop moisture entering the asset and rusting internal metal structure, cages and mesh within the concrete.

Why use Crystal Surface Protection to protect Concrete.
• Crystal Surface Protection uses the latest Proguard Decorative Coating System. It has inbuilt properties such as Anti-Graffiti, Anti Carbonation and meets VicRoads requirement for Standard Sections 685 & 686.
• Proguard is low intrusive same day application and can be made in any colour. It is used on majority of Victoria’s ‘Big Build’ Rail and Road projects. It doesn’t require warmer temperatures to cure and can be applied in temperatures as low as 3 degrees.
• We can also Pressure Clean existing assets prior to application and remove/prepare existing deteriorated coatings to overcoat with Proguard.
• Our coatings are also Chemical resistant, meaning most substances can be used to clean them and graffiti will easily be removed without effecting the coating.

METAL COATINGS

What are Thin Film Metal Coatings?
• These are Nanotechnology specific coatings aimed at protecting metals from a range of different environments and conditions. From corrosive environments to fingerprints in the home.
• Thin film means less than 10 microns. Almost invisible so that the original look, feel of the surface is maintained. They form permanent bonds to enhance the performance of the metal and while protecting against deterioration.
• Our coatings are thin film and Chemical resistant, also proving that easy to clean benefit.

What Different Types of applications are available?

• There are a range of different treatments and products available to suit the requirements of any project or surface. From stopping tea staining on stainless steel handrails and bollards through to salt and marine corrosion and then daily deterioration of soft metals such as brass and aluminium.
What are the applications of a Metal Coating?
• Metal coatings can be applied to heat exchangers, steel rails, and any architectural feature. From steel structures, window frames to protect from salt and deterioration through to industrial and manufacturing components to preserve, protect and enhance the performance of the surface.

PLASTIC COATINGS

Why Protect Plastic?
• To prevent against UV deterioration and attack of chemicals and provide an easy to clean surface.
• We’ve been trialling and testing our new plastic coatings on faded car components for over 12 months, with application to a section of a Plastic water Tank to also observe its UV resistance. The results are fantastic. The surface is clean, providing a new, wet not faded look to the plastic. Untreated areas have continued to fade.
• The surface is also not slippery or greasy like other short-term products, but instead a semi-permanent solution for longevity and protection of plastic componentry.
